THE PROGENY (The Progeny Series #1)

“No fate other than the one I choose.”

The timeless creed and tattoo bore by the Rousseaus— a vampire clan with the purest bloodline of any vampire family. Out of this clandestine group came one who was different, yet the same: Ascher, a half-bloodling— half- human, half vampire.

Ascher questions the purpose for his existence and which world he truly belongs to: the human world or the vampire world. Two months from sealing to Ursula—a prearranged union to a woman he abhors —he’s at his wit’s end. He knows if he calls off the sealing, the Romanian clan will strike with deadly force, but he cannot see eternity with a cold empty shell of a woman like Ursula.

Just when he thought life was complicated enough, he meets Shauna—a beautiful, bi-racial human Wiccan—and immediately develops an unshakable attraction to her. She makes him feel alive and vital despite his origins and Ascher makes a decision that turns his immortal world upside down.

Excerpt from THE PROGENY: “Temptation”

His voice was rough and husky—he’d never imagined such a sound could come from his lips. “I know you say this is what you want, but are you sure? I want you to be so sure about this. Once I’ve made love to you, I can’t take it back. I want you. I swear to you there is nothing I want more. But I don’t want you if you’ll regret this tomorrow. I couldn’t live with myself if you ever regretted this.”

“I’ll never want anyone more. The sky could crash down around me and I wouldn’t care, so long as your arms were the last things I felt before I died.” She tightened her arms around his neck. “I’m not disillusioned about what I’m doing and I can deal with the consequences of my actions. I want you more than I want to live or breathe.”

He grazed her neck with his tongue, picking up traces of her delectable essence. His lips deluged the soft skin with careful kisses, his finger exploring her sex with a gentle urgency. Her opening was tight and only allowed the tip of his finger entrance.

Shauna moaned, her neck craning back and exposing the constant thump of her carotid.

The craving sparked in him, his fangs paining beneath the gums. He wanted another taste of her. No. You can’t bite her again. Get control of yourself.

“Do it,” she moaned.

“What?”

“If it pleases you, then do it.” She brought her neck back to his mouth. “Bite me, Ascher. I want you to.”

BLOOD BONDS (The Progeny Series #2)

“Forever. For always. For eternity.”

The ties that bind two hearts are powerful. For Ascher Rousseau and Shauna McCutchin, it’s more than just a blood bond. Their union is that of vampire legend. Their love is a predestined prophecy foretold centuries ago.

It’s a week before Ascher and Shauna's sealing and the couple is making final preparations for their eternity, but Ascher's ex has other plans. Ursula is hell-bent on revenge—revenge fueled by lover's scorn and her father's death—and she begins breeding a fresh army of newborn darklings to do her bidding.

When Ursula finds a new weapon—an ally with the capability to dismantle the Rousseau clan— Ascher and Shauna's bond is tested and they must stand together against Ursula or lose each other for eternity.

Excerpt from BLOOD BONDS: “Pampering”

His eyes burned into hers, locking them with his gaze. Her knees buckled as her body melted into his arms. The gentle rocking of their bodies loosely resembled dancing, the music each thump of their synchronized hearts. Her gaze was trapped by his while he gradually stripped her free of her clothing.

“You have no idea how much I love you,” he murmured against her neck.

She wanted to reciprocate his sentiment, but couldn’t find her voice to speak. She was too preoccupied with the way his hands skimmed over her skin, his fingertips seeking out the sensitive spots and unhinging them one by one.

“Come,” he whispered, leading her into the bathroom.

The reconstruction continued in the bathroom. The black tiled floor was now a shimmering pale indigo and cobalt colored slate. In place of the claw foot bathtub sat an oversized blue soaking tub crafted in cerulean marble. Blue granite replaced the black marble that once covered the counter and double sinks. Though she loved the brighter colors, Shauna couldn’t help but to feel sad as she remembered their first post coital morning on that counter top.

They’d just have to make new memories for this remodeled bathroom.

The bathtub overflowed with foamy bubbles scented with the delicious smell of berries and roses. She inhaled deeply, letting the irresistibly sensuous aroma fill her nostrils. He’d lined the back of the tub with white candles, the flickering flames casting a warm and inviting glow over the romantic space.

Ascher held her hand, as she stepped carefully down the steps leading into the bath. “In you go,” he crooned, his voice silky and much too seductive for a night with limits.

The warm water engulfed her body, heating the places his touch had forgotten. He crouched behind her, grabbing a sponge to squeeze the sweet scented water over her sensitive skin. The soft feel of the sponge only mimicked the smoothness of his gentle touch. After her body was wet, he grabbed an oval bar of soap, with flecks of red imbedded in it, to cleanse her.

“That feels really good.”

His hands were a gentle and graceful combination of a strong soothing touch, moving in a constant rhythm that soon became a symphony of sensation and seduction—her body being the willing instrument, while his hands and lips were the equally enthusiastic musicians.

Though his mouth said little, his caresses and soft kisses spoke volumes to her. “I need to wash your hair, love,” he softly spoke as he lifted the shampoo from the tub-side table.

She tilted her head back as the sponge saturated her tresses with more of the perfumed water and red rose petals. He hummed a tune that was obviously familiar to him, as his hands lathered shampoo into her head and scalp. When her hair was soapy, he dipped her head backwards, immersing her hair into the water.

It felt like a baptism. In some convoluted sense of their reality, it was. Their relationship was defining itself, deepening, heightening to a more profound level. He was teaching her that he didn’t need to be inside of her for them to make love. She was learning that sometimes having your mind seduced by the man you loved felt better than any orgasm ever could.

About Ashlynne Laynne/Q. Lane

Ashlynne Laynne/Q. Lane is a songwriter, poet and author of erotic paranormal and contemporary romance, who has always had a soft spot in her heart for vampires but grew tired of the garlic fearing, sun-loathing creatures of old. An avid horror movie fan, she tends to enjoy media and music that is of a younger, more eclectic nature. This was the catalyst for her writing The Progeny.

She loves writing on the edge—combining the erotica and romance genres—and thinks of Ascher and Shauna as the wicked, damned version of Romeo and Juliet. She is currently working on book six of her Progeny Series, book one of her upcoming Alterity Series, and several novella spin offs. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her family. She juggles the hats of wife, mother, full time employee and part-time writer, hoping to write exclusively one day soon. Find and follow her online on Twitter. Check out her Manic Readers page, Blog and Website, or leave a note in her Reader Email.

Fall of 2013, Ashlynne Laynne started her own publishing, Q-Rotic Press. The remainder of her Progeny Series and all future projects will release through this new entity.

She lives in North Carolina with her husband and son.

About The Progeny Series

At its core, The Progeny Series is simply about a man and woman who fall in love. The fact that he’s a half-blood (half-human, half vampire) and she’s a Wiccan human are secondary factors. When we meet Ascher, he’s grumpy. Frankly, who could blame him? He’s engaged to seal to Ursula—a cold and careless vampire who wants nothing more than to get her hands on a bloodstone— and he feels conflicted about his existence.

All of that changes when he meets Shawnette McCutchin. She’s beautiful, intriguing and possesses some of the most potent blood that he’s ever smelled. A war immediately begins inside Ascher. He craves Shauna’s blood just as much as he craves her body and the closer they get, the harder it is for him to control his urges. After Ascher calls off the sealing to Ursula, the trouble begins. His family’s peaceful period ends when Ursula’s army attacks the Rousseaus.

This series encompasses a family dynamic of which we’ve never seen. The Rousseaus share a common mortal and immortal bloodline, but loyalty is the thread binding this clan. Shauna and Ascher’s dissuaded love only strengthens the family bonds. Their unique union transcends bloodlines and completes the prophecy, defying the beliefs of centuries old covenants while shattering the wall between the Wiccan and vampire worlds that has existed for ages. This series is erotic paranormal romance intended for adults, as it contains adult sensuality, language and themes.
